Looking forward to future videos.
Yeah, interesting. You’ve got decent audio here. Obviously, content IS king, and you’ll need a regular supply of it. Fisk has Greek Tuesday and the Lectionary and Ask the Pastor 2.0. I use the Bible, LSB and suggested hymns for the week, sanctus.org, and Dr. Paul E. Kretzmann’s Popular Commentary for Time Out.
Also with video, you’re going to need to learn rules-of-thumb about making videos. While you won’t need to be as frenetic as Fisk, I think my college roommate said you should have maybe 10-15 seconds to say what you want to say, then change the shot, whether it’s a change in angle, using other video, or not.
I recently got asked if Time Out had considered a video edition. The short answer: no. The long answer: it’s hard enough work just to get audio the way I like it. The thought of a Bible reading on vdeo, a music video, and then commentary like, say, James Burke’s Connections, makes my head swim.
It’s fun to play. I would really work on developing sources. Maybe you have some ideas based on your experiences as an elder. What can you say that a pastor wouldn’t say coming out of seminary? What kind of help can you get?
Good luck!
Dan
With imovie you’re already way ahead of me!
I would suggest trying to find the best way to naturally show the side of yourself that you want to present. Maybe you don’t want to fire off all the outrageous things you can, but from meeting you I know there is a passionate, edge of the envelope guy in there that could produce some pretty engaging content.
Thanks for all the comments, guys!
I’ll be taking everything into the mix as I go about putting together episode 2. While there are parts of this that simply frighten me beyond belief, there are more that fascinate & intrigue me…
